Confronting A Criminal MatterR. Curtis Murtha, PA Profile Image

When you are arrested for a DUI, or any other criminal charge, many concerns arise. A DUI or criminal charge can affect your employment, reputation, financial stability and freedom. When selecting an attorney, experience matters. My goal is to provide the knowledge and experience needed to aggressively defend your rights. As a former prosecutor and current defense attorney, I have valuable knowledge and experience necessary in defending your case.

Depending on the circumstances of each particular case, motions or challenges may be filed in defending a case. The circumstances surrounding your encounter with the police may directly affect the outcome of your case. Law enforcement officers are required to follow the law and appropriate procedures when conducting traffic stops and arrests. If the appropriate procedures were not followed, then challenges to the stop or arrest may be filed in court. I look forward to standing with you in court defending your rights.

Curtis Murtha Received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Florida where he majored in Criminal Justice. From there, he attended Stetson University College of Law where he graduated Cum Laude in 1998.

Curt began his legal career by being selected as legal intern for the present Chief Judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida. He also was later honored to serve in the same capacity for the current Chief Judge for the United States Court for the Middle District of Florida in Tampa.

This experience led him to be appointed as an Assistant State Attorney in Pinellas County where he served in that position from 1998 until 2001. As an Assistant State Attorney, he acquired significant trial experience, handling numerous felony and misdemeanor cases. He has tried cases involving homicide, sexual battery, drug possession and trafficking, abuse cases, theft, fraud, robbery, assault and battery, domestic violence, DUI, resisting arrest, prostitution, burglary, kidnapping, and many other criminal charges. He rose to the position of Lead Trial Attorney.

He has continued his legal training and education since leaving the State Attorney’s Office. He has completed courses throughout the State of Florida including training on advanced DUI trial techniques and domestic violence cases. Curt is a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. His trial skills and experience will be an asset to your case.
